Jean Marie Fazekas, 79, passed away peacefully on October 6 at her home in Woodbine, NJ, surrounded by her family and closest friend. Born in New Brunswick, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Regina DeCicco, and the sister of the late Frank DeCicco, Jr.
Jean met the love of her life, Charles Fazekas, and married in 1961. It was a marriage that would last over 61 years. They had four daughters, Daryl Anne Patterson and husband Robert of Bedford, PA; Robyn Marie DiLeo of Green Brook, NJ; Karen Christine Muller and husband Michael of Neshanic Station, NJ; and the late Lisa Gayle Fazekas.
Jean is survived by her nine grandchildren, Andrea Mitton and husband Patrick; Daniel Patterson and wife Maggie; Mark Patterson and wife Angela; Dominic DiLeo; Matthew DiLeo and wife Gabriella; Robert DiLeo; Elena DiLeo; Elizabeth Muller, and Andrew Muller. She also has four great grandchildren.
Prior to moving to Woodbine, Jean lived in Piscataway, NJ, for nearly 25 years. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was a homemaker who took great pride in raising her daughters and being actively involved in their activities. She supported her children and grandchildren by attending their activities and never missed important milestone events. When her daughters were grown, Jean was employed by E.R. Squibb & Sons for many years. In the 1990's following the tragic passing of her daughter, Lisa, Jean became passionately involved with Mothers Against Drunk Driving of Cape May County, serving as President for the organization and taking on other leadership roles.
Friends of the family are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, October 28, at 2:00 pm at Christ Fellowship Church, 3044 South Shore Road, Seaville, NJ. A private burial will be held at Van Liew Cemetery, North Brunswick, NJ.
