Obituary for MaryAnn Clarke (Shillingford)

CLARKE, MARYANN (SHILLINGFORD), - 78, of Dorothy, passed away on February 11, 2022, after a lengthy illness. She was a devoted wife to Vernon E. Clarke Jr. (whom predeceased her in 2016). She is survived by her 3 children, Michelle L. Clarke, Janice K. Headley (Christopher D. Headley) and Gary B. Clarke Sr. (Amy E. Clarke). She was grandmother to Katelyn A. Jenson (Anthony R. Jenson), Brianna R. Headley, Gary B. Clarke Jr., Bethany R. Headley, Abigail E. Headley, Jessica M. Clarke and Matthew A. Clarke. She was great-grandmother to Jaxon A. Jenson, Declan T. Jenson, Carter I. Clarke and Gary B. Clarke III. She graduated from Collingwood High School in 1961. Until she retired, she was School Business Administrator for Estell Manor Elementary School. MaryAnn made herself a lifelong career in the business field. Her accomplishments included Rutgers University, Glassboro State College (Rowan University), awards, including distinguished recognition for NJ Association of School Business Officials for Estell Manor 2004-2005. She had previously served as Board Secretary to Weymouth Twp. Elementary School also. MaryAnn and her family spent many years visiting and supporting Children’s Fresh Air Home in North Wildwood.
She had also served in her community as a youth group leader in her church, Bethlehem Lutheran Evangelical many years prior. She supported her community in many aspects and was a big supporter of American Legion Post 239 of Tuckahoe which her Husband Vernon had served faithfully. The family extends their gratitude to all who helped in the last several months. Services are to be held on Thursday, February 17th at 12noon at Langley-Loveland Funeral Home, 2315 Rt. 50, Tuckahoe NJ; viewing will begin at 11am. Burial will be immediately following at Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband Vernon. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to either the Aaron Wittkamp Powell, Post 239, American Legion P.O.
