Obituary for Jean Dolly Osborn (Castagna)

OSBORN, JEAN DOLLY, - 83, of Petersburg, went home to be with the Lord on December 16, 2021. Dolly was born in Marshallville (Western Upper Township). The youngest of five children born to the late Joseph and Jean Castagna. Dolly grew up in Marshallville and was part of the first eighth grade graduating class 1953 at the upper Township elementary school. She also attended OCHS. Dolly moved to Petersburg in 1959 where she lived the remainder of her life. Dolly ran the Castagna farm market with her mother Jean from 1959 to 1971 on route 50 in Petersburg. She also spent four years at the Tuckahoe Inn from 1969 to 1973 and later on
as a part-time health aide. A dedicated lover of animals - she never turned away a stray animal. She dearly loved her many dogs and cats through the years along with a few rabbits and chickens as well. Always a kind and generous soul she would never turn away a hungry person from the dinner table. She was a great cook and baker who kept her family and friends well fed even during lean times.
The smallest and simplest things in life made her happy (watching the birds at the feeder, going to the custard
stand, a ride out in the country or going around to see the Christmas lights during the season). She also enjoyed her time at Wednesday night Bible study at Great Commission Baptist Church in Swainton. Dolly was a shining example of generosity, kindness, selflessness and loyalty, especially towards her family, friends, and pets. Dolly is survived by her loving son Charles (Wally), her grandson James, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and her loving pets. She is predeceased by brothers Jack and Tony Castagna, sisters Francis DeAugustine and Anne Smith, former husband Chuck Osborn and longtime companion John Scheidt.
Viewing will be Tuesday, December 21st from 5 to 7pm at Langley–Loveland Funeral Home 2315 Route 50 in Tuckahoe. Burial will be private at Wesley United Methodist Cemetery in Petersburg. Condolences may be shared with the family at langleylovelandfuneralhome.com.
