Burkeitt, Claire - 95 passed away peacefully on February 1, 2021 in her home with family present. She was born October 16, 1925 to Martin and Ida Fritsch in Scullville, NJ. She was raised with her sisters Doris Sumner and Avis Read, both deceased. Claire worked as a bookkeeper in Philadelphia and then married Wayne Burkeitt, after his return from duty as a Seabee in WWII. They had a long and happy marriage until Wayne passed in 2010.
Claire was always the model of civility and kindness. She was deeply religious and involved with the Methodist Church. She was particularly fond of quilting and other crafts, adored animals and her pets.
She will be laid to rest beside her husband Wayne at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Crest Haven Complex on January 12, at 11:00 AM with a graveside service for close friends and immediate family. Contributions may be made in her name to the Cape May County Animal Shelter or the Ocean City Humane Society.
The family wishes to especially thank Holy Redeemer Hospice for their services which allowed Claire to pass in her beloved home as she wished.
