Obituary for Eugenia R. Swayngim (Paxson)

Eugenia R. Swayngim (nee Paxson), 80, of Tuckahoe

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Eugenia R. Swayngim (Jeanne) on Sunday May 10, 2020. Jeanne was born Feb 29, 1940 and was raised and attended school in Darby, PA before moving to NJ, first to Barnsboro, then to Ocean City before moving to Tuckahoe. While in Ocean City she worked at the family candy store near 1st and Asbury Ave. In 1972 she and her husband moved the family to Tuckahoe where she worked on the family-owned farm tending to a variety of animals. Horses, ponies, goats, two attack geese (Fred and Jeanne) and chickens, all found a home there. She especially loved her many stray cats, which led to one of her nicknames, Cat Lady, along with Chicken Lady and, later on, Hot Rod. She also worked as an Avon Lady and for a short time, at Wheaton Candles in Tuckahoe. Jeanne was a devoted wife and mother, a great cook-everyone loved her homemake bread! Jeanne loved watching the eighteen-wheelers roll by; and Jeopardy! on which she should've been a contestant; late night shows (Johnny Carson, in particular, made it difficult for some to get to sleep with her loud, contagious laughter). Jeanne was predeceased by her parents Jenny and Edmund Paxson and brother Edmund "Georgie" Paxson; husband Fred C. Swayngim; sons Thomas F. and Scott(y) C. Swayngim; grandson Raymond Blaine; and granddaughter Tanya Swayngim. Left to cherish her memories are beloved companion of many years, David Woolley; her daughters Jeanne Payne (nee Blaine) (David), Joan (Bob) Winter, and Victoria (Roy) Hope; sons Edmund Blaine, Raymond Blaine (Crystal), E. Robert Swayngim (Cherie) and John Swayngim (Tracey); grandchildren Laura, Erica, Thomas Jr, Robert, Trisha, Vanessa, Robert, David, Ronnie, Mikey, Sage, Justin, Shannon, and Joshua; and 17 great-grandchildren; siblings Joan Rakoski (Hank) and Diana Paxson (Bill); also an aunt, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
