Erna Schneider of Corbin City, passed away on January 12, 2020 at the age of 100. She was born in Offenbach, Germany and immigrated with her parents to the United States in 1923. They traveled on the Ocean Liner Resolute and passed through Ellis Island. Her family briefly lived in Philadelphia before settling in New Jersey. Erna met her husband to be, Helmuth Schneider on June 14, 1941 at a family party. Erna once said, "Helmuth walked in with a tennis racket and holes in his sneakers, and it was love at first sight!" They were married in 1946 and had two children, Fred and Eric. Erna was very generous and cared for many people through the years. Erna's passion was in the arts. She was a talented painter and was inspired by nature. She enjoyed listening to classical music and loved to play her piano. Erna was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Marmora.
Erna was predeceased by her parents Leonard and Anna, her brother Leonard, her husband Helmuth and her sons Fred and Eric. She is survived by her nieces Kristine, Leslie, Sue and Jenny.
