Obituary for Donald Anderson

Donald H. Anderson, Age 78 of Estell Manor NJ, was born on Staten Island NY, and he grew up in the sun on the sands of Newdorp Beach, bodysurfing and making mischief. He graduated from McKee High School, and entered the US Navy, but received a medical discharge. Throughout his adult life, he did factory work, carpentry, roofing, and various other trade work, before beginning a career in school maintenance, first at Oakcrest High School, then Weymouth Township and Estell Manor School. He served on the Dorothy Rescue squad for 11 years as well as the Estell Manor Planning Board. He retired in 2000, and spent time boating, waterskiing, and fishing, camping and traveling around the country with his wife, Dottie (Dorothy Anderson), reading up on US history, and most of all, being a Grandpa. Donald had an excellent sense of humor, and was always ready with a silly pun, in any circumstance. He was generous with his time and handyman skills. He was a trusted and loyal friend, a loving and patient father and grandfather and such a special "Uncle Don" to a multitude of nieces and nephews as well as so many other loved ones, who thought of him as family. His great love, though, was the love he had for The Lord Jesus Christ. This love molded Don's life and made it the rich life that it was. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Anderson, his daughter, Tonia Anderson and Grandson, Nigel Anderson, sisters June Josephsen and Lois Lehneis. Donald's brother Ken, preceded him in death by one day. A service will be held at the Estell Manor Community Church, 146 Cumberland Ave, Estell Manor, on Sunday, February 21 at 2pm, visitation preceding at 1pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Estell Manor Community Church, Box 146, Estell Manor, NJ 08319.
