Condolences

Condolence From: Danielle
Condolence: One month ago tomorrow you left us. Everyone says it will get easier as time passes but for me it’s getting harder and harder. Ava has so much planned to keep your memory alive. We have our penny from heaven jar as she knows each time she finds a penny on the ground that it’s from you. We wear our light blue bracelets every day to remember you by and we have our light blue Cáncer angel pin in the car to keep you watching over us. We are going to visit my mom next week and even though we are excited to spend time with her, it will be very hard to walk in that house knowing you won’t be there 💙💙

Condolence: Since 1999 Neil has been, and will forever be, a part of my life. While playing a New Year's Eve gig I handed him a piece of sheet music and asked if he could play it when I gave him the sign. He did and unknowingly provided the soundtrack as I proposed to my wife. Just one of many reasons Neil will remembered as one classy guy.

Condolence: “ Another one bites the dust”. --- A musical tribute only Neil would appreciate. That was the way Neil was --- a snicker and slight laugh. He was the guy from Queens who possessed all the sarcasm and satire NY.C. could offer. But, cut through his crusty veneer, and you will find a warm, unselfish, and talented guy who will be missed so very, very much. We feel blessed to have called him a friend and adopted brother to the “Nostalgia Band” family. Neil made our gigs fun and his musical skills blessed us. (And boy he could pack his car with a ton of equipment.) The music has stopped far to soon for Neil. But our memories will not die. The stoppage of earthly time has now given birth to the comfort knowing that our wonderful interactions with Neil were time well spent. We know Neil knew how much we appreciated him, as we never hid our affection. There are no regrets, only praise and thanksgiving. Although I tried to capture Neil’s appreciation for sarcasm, no “tongue in cheek” jokes can hide our tears. It just hurts too much. Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers go out to you, Andrea as you lost a wonderful guy. We thank you for sharing Neil. In closing, on behalf of the band “Nostalgia” we thank you, Neil --- we miss you --- and we will always keep you in our conversations. Love, Carol and Bill Scharff and “Nostalgia”

Condolence: Condolences to all his family and friends. May your memories give you comfort during this difficult time. My father, Neil Matheson, was a caring father, talented musician, and dedicated to his work. I'll always remember watching wrestling with him in the big orange chair, morning cartoons before school, riding the lawn mower with him, watching him fix amps, family vacations, riding motorcycles, and falling asleep listening to him play piano. Im glad he is no longer battling cancer and has finally found peace & quiet. Dad- I hope there is great music, warm beaches, and endless oreos for you in the afterlife. Rest In Peace. Your loving daughter. Krystal

Condolence: Your family is in my thoughts. I had the opportunity to be a friend of Neil’s both at work and after i’d left Dow Jones. We did meet once at Neil’s home in Ewing. Neil and I also spent a couple of evenings together when he was a manager at the Silver Spring plant. His friendship will be missed.

Condolence: We lost a good guy with a great heart. He was fair and decent. I will miss him and his wise outlook on the world. That says a lot, since he was my boss for many years at White Oak. He was liked and respected not because of his position, but because of who he was as a person. We have missed him as he took ill, and especially now. Best regards, Joe Betz

Condolence: Neil was a great brother to my significant other, Jean Braun. She always spoke highly of him and was very concerned about his health. Soon after I met Jean we went to see Neil and Andrea and were treated so nicely. Neil will be missed by Jean and myself.

Condolence: My brother Neil meant so much to me. He was a friend that lightened up my world. There are two stories that I would like to share because they are part of what I will miss the most. First, we texted or phoned each other on birthdays and anniversaries of our parents and grandmother. Neil usually was close on the date and we always laughed that he at least had the right month. Second, Neil was an accomplished musician who knew every song. I would sit in a family rocking chair as Neil played song after song challenging me to ‘Name that Tune’. My score was very poor, so we laughed. I will also miss the love he shared, his technical knowledge and his insights on the world. Neil was loved and appreciated by so many. He left a void that will not be filled. I was very fortunate to have Neil for my brother.

Condolence From: Danielle and Ava
Condolence: I don’t know where to begin. You were a wonderful man who wanted to do for everyone and expected nothing in return. Ava and I will truly miss you. I know your in a better place but I’m not ready for you to be there yet. We never got to say goodbye. I should’ve given my mom your Fathers Day card last night so you could’ve read it before bed so you knew how wonderful and special you are to us! The shock is slowly wearing away and the sadness is coming on harder. Please watch over us especially my mom. Ava said she is going to try to score you a goal this weekend. We love you and will always have to tucked away in our pocket to have you with us every step we go. ❤️❤️
