Obituary for Lura Clemenson (Hampton)

Clemenson, Lura Mildred (nee Hampton), age 87, passed away peacefully at her home in Estell Manor on November 20, 2016. She was born in Gallitzin, PA on January 5, 1929 to Walter and Frieda Hampton. Lura was known to family and friends as a hard worker and an excellent cook. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and spending time with her family. As a young mother, Lura was a Girl Scouts/Brownies Leader. Lura was a long-time member of the Estell Manor Community Church, the Democratic Club of Estell Manor, and the Dorothy Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She served as Registrar of Vital Statistics of Estell Manor for 40 years. She and her husband Herb were former caretakers of the Atlantic County Game Preserve in Estell Manor. In later years, she joined the Historical Society of Estell Manor. Lura is predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Herbert; her sisters Dorothy Smith, Violet Barberino, and Mary Ellen Bowser; her brothers Gerald, Roy, and James; and her daughter Sharon Gerrino. She leaves behind her two remaining daughters, Veralee (Gary) Finger and Janice (Emedio) DeMarco, her son Arnold (Christine), her grandchildren Melissa Ferrino and Joseph Clemenson, and her brothers Paul and Joseph. Visitation for Lura will be on Saturday, November 26, 2016 from 10-11am at the Estell Manor Community Church at 143 Cumberland Avenue, Estell Manor. Service will begin at 11am and a burial will immediately follow at the Head of the River Church, Estell Manor. Memorial donations may be made to Ranch Hope of Alloway, NJ, Dorothy Volunteer Fire Company in Dorothy NJ, or Head of the River Church, Estell Manor.
