Anna Apicella (Cerbone) 97, of Palermo, NJ, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, July 3rd. She was born on October 30, 1916 in the Bronx, New York. Anna was the oldest of 5 siblings. She worked in the family business, Cerbone Pastry Shop on Morris Avenue in the South Bronx while attending Theodore Roosevelt High School from where she graduated in 1934. It was at the pastry shop where she met Andrew Apicella. They married on August 16, 1942 and were married for 53 years until Andrew’s death in 1995. While married, she worked in his family business, Premium Fish Market, also in the Bronx. Upon their retirement in 1985, they relocated to the Palermo section of Upper Township, NJ. Anna was a member of the Mature Adults at Resurrection Church, Shore Acres Homeowners Assoc. and the Ocean City Aquatic Center. Anna was predeceased by her brothers and sisters and is survived her four children, Frank (Jeanne) Apicella of Hartsdale, NY, Joseph (Marie) Apicella of Southport, North Carolina, Marianna Karayiannis of Seaville, and Eugene (Cathy) Apicella of Cocoa, Florida. She is also survived by many nieces & nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitations will be held on Tuesday July 8th from 2pm-4pm & 7pm-9pm at the Langley-Loveland Funeral Home, 2315 Route 50, Tuckahoe, NJ 08250. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Wednesday, July 9th at the Parish of Saint Maximilian Kolbe, 200 W Tuckahoe Road, Marmora, New Jersey, 08223. Burial will follow at Seaside Cemetery.
